Now that sporting facilities and concerts have gotten the go-ahead to operate at full capacity, likewise, those in the events and banquet industry are anxiously awaiting their turn.
“This comes at a crucial time for all, especially heading into the Christmas season,” said Mark Bingeman, President of Bingemans.
With the hope of expanding their capacity limits, Bingeman said planning is underway for their Scream Park and for Christmas as well.
“We will be bringing back the at-home activation as well as the Christmas buffet in person. So hopefully, with the expanded capacity, we can grow these more.”
Looking back at the summer, Bingeman said it was relatively good. The camping and water park attractions did see a lot of success. Bingeman adds that camping allowed people to reconnect with nature and they are planning to bring back the event next summer, this time with the hope of 100 per cent capacity.
He adds it is also a state of mind, a full reopening has to start at some point. While a full capacity operating business is what everyone in the events and banquet facilities is hopeful for, this creates a huge boost for those independent caterers and companies as well.
“We know some consumers are going to be hesitant and are going to hold off for a certain period, and we are respectful of that, but the sooner we can open up and get things going, the sooner we can get to the road of recovery. Reopening is not recovery. The reality is we won't see a recovery until at least mid-next year.
“We are looking forward to having staff come back. We are still at a significant layoff due to the standpoint of business reopening, so as that changes, we are hoping with this announcement, we will start changing and start bringing more people back and getting back into the groove of working.”
