New skatepark officially opening today in Kitchener

A new skatepark in Kitchener is officially opening today, with opening ceremonies happening from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

Kitchener's Upper Canada Skatepark is a street-style course designed by Newline Skateparks, and features a mix of vertical elements and rails for varying skill levels. 

Located on the western corner of Homer Watson Boulevard and Pioneer Drive, it sits across from existing city park amenities like the basketball court and baseball diamonds. 

The opening ceremonies will include remarks, ribbon cutting, interviews, as well as pro-skateboarding demos and food trucks. Demos will be done by Team Canada's youngest national team member, Fay DeFazio Ebert, and national team member Adam Hopkins. 

It's located on 120 Pioneer Drive in Kitchener.
