Cooling centres available in Waterloo Region

By Maddie Demarte

A heat warning has been declared in Waterloo Region and Wellington County this week, with humidex values reaching 40 degrees until at least Thursday.

When heat warnings are issued by Canada's national weather agency, Environment Canada, the Region of Waterloo opens a number of locations for the public to use.

Exposure to extreme heat for prolonged periods of time can be dangerous; drink lots of cool fluids before you feel thirsty, and avoid drinks with high levels of sugar, caffeine or alcohol.
