By Ben Eppel

The Kitchener GO train line is about to be bustling once again, with evening service returning as of August 7.

The new trains being added to the Kitchener line are as follows:

On weekday evenings, Kitchener line customers travelling between Mount Pleasant GO and Union will have two additional westbound trips, departing Union at 7:34 p.m. and 8:34 p.m., and an additional eastbound trip to Union, at 8:40 p.m. Customers travelling between Kitchener GO and Union will have one additional eastbound trip to Union, departing at 8:39 p.m., and an additional westbound trip to Kitchener GO, departing at 9:34 p.m.

You're advised to plan ahead for your trip, as schedule changes can throw off your commute.

“When they do return to our service, they'll notice that there's quite a few changes,” said Metrolinx spokesperson Nitish Bissonauth. “For starters, we've implemented dozens of safety measures to ensure trains and buses are clean, and provide a safe transit option. That means that we have protective barriers on our vehicles, hand sanitizers on board, as well as at our stations.”

Wearing a mask is mandatory, even if you are fully vaccinated.
