Police investigating warm up theft in Kitchener

On April 6, 2021, at approximately 8 a.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle theft from a residence in the area of Rosemount Drive and Eton Drive in Kitchener.

A silver, 4-door, Volvo S60 was stolen after the owner started the vehicle to warm up and left the vehicle unattended. While the owner went inside their residence, the vehicle was stolen by an unknown male.

As police responded to the area, officers observed the stolen vehicle, and a brief pursuit was initiated. The pursuit was quickly discontinued for public safety reasons.

Through investigation, it was determined that a second stolen vehicle was used in relation to this incident and was recovered by police in the area.

Waterloo Regional Police are requesting anyone who may have video surveillance in the area of Rosemount Drive and Eton Drive, and has recordings between 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., on April 6, 2021, to call police. Anyone with information is also encouraged to call police at 519-570-9777 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Waterloo Regional Police would like to remind the public not to leave their vehicle while it is running and unattended.
