Sun Life to close two Waterloo locations

Two Sun Life Financial offices will not be reopening when working in-office returns to normalcy.
The locations at Westmount and Allen Square will be no more as a part of the company's consolidation strategy, something the company claimed is, in part, due to their employees' desires.
“Our employees are thinking about work differently. They want more flexibility to work how and where they want,” said spokesperson Alessandra Nigro in an email. “As we redefine the role of the office, we are adapting and investing in our offices to give employees flexible work location arrangements and space to collaborate while in the office.”
As a result, the company will invest in their Waterloo King and Waterloo North offices in the hope of giving employees “more flexibility and choice” in their work.
They clarified these changes are not a result of restructuring or downsizing.
Sun Life's Canadian head office remains in Kitchener-Waterloo.
