Top stories of 2020: Two arrested in connection with Walmart fires

As 2020 winds down, we are looking back at some of the top local and most viewed stories on our site this year.
In late October, three fires were set at Walmart locations in Kitchener and Waterloo, all within the span of roughly one hour.
Two arrests were made in the days that followed.
The fires resulted in a combined $12 million in damage.
The stores that were damaged have since reopened.

Waterloo Regional Police have confirmed to 570 NEWS that a 21-year old man from Paris and a young person have been arrested in connection with three arsons at Walmarts in Kitchener and Waterloo.
Police say they were also involved in setting off fire alarms at Walmarts in Cambridge and Brantford.
The two accused face several charges including Arson/Disregard for Human Life and False Alarm Fire.
The three fires were set Tuesday night at Walmart stores at the Sunrise Centre, Stanley Park Mall in Kitchener, and Bridgeport Plaza in Waterloo, all in the span of about an hour.
The fires caused an estimated $12 million in damage and all three stores were shut down for the investigation and clean up.
