Grand River Foods wins water conservation award

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

Cambridge-based Grand River Foods is being honoured for its commitment to water conservation.

On Monday, the organization was presented with the Region of Waterloo's Water Efficiency Excellence Award, by Regional Chair Karen Redman.

The award is given each year to an organization that completes a notable water efficiency project.

Grand River Foods installed a new hand wash system that slashed water use by 84 per cent, saving 2.9 million litres per year.

It was funded, in part, with assistance from the region's Water Efficient Technology (WET) Program.

WET offers funding and resources to help commercial, industrial and institutional organizations improve their water efficiency.
