Young Kitchener woman gets four years in human trafficking case

By Mark Pare

A four-year jail sentence for a 20-year old Kitchener woman.

The Record reports Lindsay Rye played an active role in some of the crimes, involving a 15-year old girl who was reportedly coerced into prostitution, forcibly confined, raped and tortured.

The victim's mother, reading out an emotional impact statement, saying Rye's “selfish choices and blatant disregard for the well-being of my daughter have left a permanent mark on both of our lives.”

“You stole her trust, exploited her vulnerabilities and robbed her of her self-worth and dignity.”

Rye later apologized, according to the paper.
