It seems a popular coffee bar in Uptown Waterloo may be closed for good.
A photo is circulating on social media of a notice posted to the door of Death Valley's Little Brother, located at 84 King Street North.
The typed letter claimed to be from the landlords, and stated the following:
“To our surprise we witnessed our tenants DVLB moving out early Sunday evening.
When asked what was occurring the reply was that they are redecorating, it was obvious they were not as they were clearly emptying the place.
It is unfortunate that this would occur given all of the relief they have received from both us, in the way of rent relief, and the federal and provincial government.
It is upsetting to see the loss of an Uptown Waterloo staple.
We really wish they would have talked to us first, as we would have liked to further accommodate their position.”
Uptown Waterloo BIA Executive Director, Tracy Van Kalsbeek, provided the following e-mail statement on Wednesday, “We had not heard anything about DVLB closing before the letter from the owners was posted. I did reach out to the owner of the cafe this morning, but her email bounced back.”
570 NEWS has reached out to Death Valley's Little Brother for comment. However, attempts to call the business on Wednesday and Thursday went straight to voicemail.
According to its Facebook page, the establishment opened in 2011.
