Another business will be permanently shuttered due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Owner Ryan Good has confirmed to 570 NEWS that Chainsaw is closing its doors for good.
The popular Uptown Waterloo staple has been open for almost 11 years, and offered everything from live music to karaoke.
Good said the future is uncertain, but one thing is clear: with the loss of business from students, Chainsaw will not be able to recover.
“We're primarily a student bar. The spring and summer terms being cancelled was the writing on the wall. We can't withstand that level of drop.”
Good said about 45 full, part-time, and contract employees will be affected.
Chainsaw announced on March 16 it was closing its doors until further notice due to social distancing guidelines and the provincial state of emergency.
