Cambridge getting second legal pot shop

By Blair Adams

Cambridge will soon be home to a second legal cannabis shop.

On Wednesday, Sessions announced plans to open a store at 101 Holiday Inn Drive by mid-May.

The company already has stores in Toronto and Collingwood, with plans to open 18 more, including the location in Cambridge, in 2020.

The CEO and co-founder of Sessions Cannabis said they are committed to moving forward and adapting the business, even though cannabis brick and mortar stores have been ordered to temporarily close their doors due to COVID-19.

“The government guidelines for cannabis retail stores were extensive, even before the pandemic. Fortunately, our team quickly implemented online ordering and curbside sales so that Sessions Cannabis can continue to safely serve its customers.” Steven Fry said in a release.

Fry said even if they are not able to have a traditional grand opening due to the pandemic, customers will still be able to place an order for curbside pick-up.

Tokyo Smoke, located on Pinebush Road in Cambridge, was the region's first legal cannabis store.

There's also Meta in Kitchener, as well as Bud & Sally in Uptown Waterloo.
