Waterloo-based athletic, adventurer group urging action on climate change

An advocacy group made up of outdoor enthusiasts, professional athletes and sporting brands is trying to get governments to take action on climate change.
The group called Protect Our Winters Canada is based in Waterloo, but is opening chapters across the country.
Executive director Dave Erb says the goal is to unite and organize the outdoor community.
He says many people who enjoy spending time in nature want to protect it because they are seeing climate changes firsthand.
The group has dozens of Canadian athletes and adventurers who have signed on as ambassadors to help get the word out.
They include ice climber and paraglider Will Gadd, retired ski cross Olympic gold medallist Ashleigh McIvor and alpine ski racer Erik Guay.
