By Blair Adams

Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign has led to even more smiles at Nutrition for Learning and KidsAbility.

Those two local groups benefited from the week-long campaign in September.

The proceeds that went to Nutrition for Learning topped $158,000, which is a record.

“We are so very grateful to Tim Hortons for supporting our Waterloo Region students! The money raised by Smile Cookies helps us fund student nutrition programs that support the overall student's well-being and the ability to learn by ensuring that every student can attend school well nourished. Tim Hortons support will help us purchase nutritious food for 141 school programs this school year.” Brian Banks, Interim Executive Director, Nutrition for Learning said in a release.

Over $75,000 also went to KidsAbility, which is a 20 per cent increase over last year.

Tim Hortons restaurant owners donated the full $1 from every Smile Cookie purchased to support local charities in their community.

Across Canada, a record $9.8 million was raised.
