By The Canadian Press

LONGUEUIL, Que. — Heroux-Devtek Inc. says CEO Gilles Labbe will become executive chairman of the aerospace company’s board of directors and he’ll be succeeded as president and chief executive by Martin Brassard

The aircraft parts company says the changes will be effective on June 1 as it enters a “new phase of growth.”

Brassard has worked for Heroux-Devtek for 25 years, and is currently an executive vice-president and the company’s chief operating officer.

Heroux-Devtek says Labbe will continue to support its business activities while working closely with Brassard to ensure a smooth transition.

Labbe says he is confident that Brassard is uniquely qualified for the role of CEO and the “right leader” to drive Heroux-Devtek’s success.

The Longueuil, Que.-based company also appointed its current chairman of the board, Brian A. Robbins, as lead director.
