Forty high school students, 20 boys and 20 girls, from around the world have been accepted into the International Summer School for Young Physicists this year at Perimeter Institute.

The prestigious two-week summer program in Waterloo is designed to guide budding scientists with a promising future in theoretical physics.

Kelly Foyle, an Outreach Scientist at Perimeter, says this year they have accepted students from Brazil, Turkey, America, and from all over Canada.

Two high school students from Waterloo Region were accepted into the program this year, one from Cambridge, the other from Waterloo.

Students have had a lot to look forward to so far. “We've been going at a pretty fast pace,” says Foyle. “Thursday, we're already heading up to SNOLAB in Sudbury, when we come back, we get right back with more physics.”

To be eligible for the ISSYP program, students must be in their final two years of a secondary school program.
