More LRT tests expected in the next few weeks, but no dates released

After being delayed just a few weeks ago, tests will begin shortly for the Region’s second LRT vehicle.
This time though, there will be no official date released with officials in the Region saying that decision will be made on a day-by-day basis.
The last scheduled test was delayed on October 19th due to missing documentation from Bombardier, but Regional Councillor Tom Galloway says that shouldn’t be a problem anymore.
“There was some commercial related documentation, not so much technical related documentation, again it really has to do with Bombardier owning the vehicles until they are completed and Grandlinq getting permission with the necessary paper work to allow them to actually use the vehicle for testing purposes,” he says.
Galloway says they expect the second train to be on the track for testing sometime in the next few weeks, where it will be tested along Northfield Drive.
The next train is also scheduled to arrive shortly.
Waterloo Region Commissioner, Transportation and Environmental Services Thomas Schmidt says they are satisfied with the progress being made so far.
“We have a video of vehicle 504 on the track in Kingston, moving and performing as we would expect it to do on the track,” says Schmidt, adding the next vehicle (504) is expected to arrive by the end of the month, with additional vehicles following sometime in mid-December.
