Michael Ball’s retrial on murder charge will not take place in Kitchener

A retrial in a Kitchener murder case will move forward — but not here.

Officials at the Regional Courthouse confirm to 570 NEWS, Michael Ball will be coming back to court for renewed proceedings as early as January, with a trial expected to start in April.

The new location of the trial is not being announced for now, but it will not be at the Regional court house.

Ball was charged with first-degree murder, and indignity to a body for the death of Elmira’s Erin Howlett in 2013.

Her body was found in a bag in the Grand River.

Ball was convicted on the indignity charge, but the murder charge ended with a mistrial.
