We’re just days away from the start of November and today we begin to turn our thoughts to Remembrance Day.
The K-W Poppy Fund begins its annual campaign today with donations earmarked for emergency help to veterans.
In the past, that money has gone to Grand River and St. Mary’s Hospitals, Parkwood Veterans Hospital, the Legion Homeless Veterans program and the Provincial Poppy Fund.
Money is also set aside for local Cadet squadrons, as well as bursaries to veterans and their dependents to help with post-secondary education.
Friday’s campaign kick off ceremony is at 1 p.m. at the Poppy Fund office on Marsland Drive in Waterloo.
Remembrance Day is of course November 11th and this year it falls on a Saturday.
