Kitchener home completely destroyed by Tuesday morning blaze, damage estimated at $500K

Police, fire and hydro crews were called out to massive house fire on West Ave in Kitchener Tuesday morning.
The call came in at 8:39 a.m. Kitchener Fire says the received 15 calls for 911 and crews could see the smoke when they left the station.
One home was completely destroyed by fire while a neighboring house had major damage and another house suffered minor damage.
The house that was destroyed was vacant and neighbours say it has been abandon for sometime.
Damage is being estimated at $500,000 but the cause of the fire is under investigation.
West Ave was shut down for several hours between Victoria and Highland so crews can clean up and deal with any hot spots.
According to several people who live in the area the destroyed house was an issue. Neighbours say it was abandon for at least several months and had fallen into a state of disrepair.
