Some of the most active companies traded Thursday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (15,469.91, up 120 points):

Asanko Gold Inc. (TSX:AKG). Miner. Down 17 cents, or 7.76 per cent, to $2.02 on 19.2 million shares.

Element Fleet Management Corp. (TSX:EFN). Financial Services. Up 99 cents, or 11.57 per cent, to $9.55 on 9.4 million shares.

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Aerospace, rail equipment. Up three cents, or 1.23 per cent, to $2.47 on 8.8 million shares. Bombardier’s controlling family will soon begin to receive millions of dollars from its investment in BRP Inc., a recreational products manufacturer that was spun off as an independent company from Bombardier Inc. The Beaudoin-Bombardier family, which owns 41.2 million multiple-voting shares of BRP in addition to its holdings in Bombardier, will receive $3.3 million from a new quarterly dividend to be paid by BRP next month.

BlackBerry Ltd. (TSX:BB). Wireless communications. Up $1.14, or 7.98 per cent, to $15.42 on 7.3 million shares. Share prices surged after a Citron Research report identified the company as a likely buyout target for a sizable premium, highlighting BlackBerry’s “virtually completed” transition from hardware maker to focusing on its software business.

B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Miner. Down nine cents, or 2.65 per cent, to $3.30 on 4.72 million shares.

Encana Corp. (TSX:ECA). Oil and gas. Up 15 cents, or 1.14 per cent, to $13.28 on 4.69 million shares.

Shares in Saputo Inc. (TSX:SAP). Consumer packaged goods. Down $1.73, 3.84 per cent, to $43.37 on 3.04 million shares. The dairy processor reported weaker-than-expected results for its latest quarter. It earned $165.2 million or 42 cents per diluted share for the quarter ended March 31 compared with a profit of $141.2 million or 36 cents per share a year ago.
