A Waterloo Regional Police officer is getting special thanks today for doing something she had never done before: help deliver a baby.
Police spokesperson, Cherri Greeno, says Constable Kate Wagner is young, but did not falter when she responded to a call yesterday about a woman in distress inside an apartment in Kitchener.
“She set out to do a routine shift with us, like she does every day, but with this job you never know what you can expect.’
‘So she received the call, and going to the call she still didn’t know what she was about to see,” says Greeno. “She got there just in time to witness a miracle, witness a baby being born right in front of her.”
Wagner assisted paramedics and comforted the mom.
The call came in at 10:00 a.m. – the baby boy was born at 10:13 a.m.
Both the baby and the mom are healthy and doing well.
