The pride flag is flying above Waterloo Regional Police headquarters today.
Chief Bryan Larkin lead the flag raising ceremony in the rain on Thursday, surrounded by a small crowd of community workers and advocates.
Larkin says while everyone may worship differently, listen to different music, or have different sexual orientations, there’s a commonality: everyone wants to feel loved, and like they belong.
The Chief adds, “our organization has not always got it right on a number of challenges, and a number of issues, and I think we’re really making significant progress.”
He goes on to say, “There’s work to be done, but really excited about it.”
This is only the second time that Regional Police have raised the Pride flag.
Today’s event coincides with the local Tri-Pride festival.
