Ten constables and two K9’s officially join the Waterloo Regional Police Service

In front of friends, families, and their superiors at St. David Catholic High School in Waterloo, ten new constables we’re officially welcomed to the Waterloo Regional Police Service.

The newly minted officers completed their basic training at the Ontario Police Academy and can now wear the badge they’ve been dreaming of for their entire lives.

Recruit Class #93 is a diverse one, with four of the ten Constables being women. They come from all walks of life, and have had past careers before policing.

Along with the officers, WRPS also badged two K9’s. Grim and Tracker have been on duty since January but were given their collars at the ceremony today.

Regional Police Chief Bryan Larkin tells 570 NEWS he’s happy for the new officers and can’t wait till they hit the streets to continue their training and career. “I’m so impressed with the people we’re bring into the organization and it brings me great joy that they’re ready to dedicate their lives to change and serving others.”
