The 39-year old Kitchener native Colin Doyle is retiring from the game he’s loved ever since he was a kid.
Doyle played 19 seasons in the NLL, 16 of them with the Toronto Rock.
The team announced Wednesday afternoon that the Rock Forward will hang up his jersey. Doyle is the all-time leader in every offensive category. In 19 seasons with Oakville, Toronto, and San Jose, Doyle scored 588 goals and posted 940 assists.
Speaking with NLL Productions, Doyle says it was time to walk away. “My mind was made up when I started to lose my competitive edge and drive to win and be the best. I knew it was time.”
Doyle is a six-time NLL champion.
Locally, Doyle played for the KW Jr. A Braves. He is the all-time leading scorer in the team’s history.
