The Walper Hotel: Grand Opening tonight

Tonight is the Grand Re-Opening for The Walper Hotel on the corner of Queen and King in Kitchener.

The building, which has been a part of the downtown core for over 100 years has been closed for a complete renovation for over a year.

The new redesigned Walper is modern, sleek, and boasts a boutique-style urban feel, while still sticking to its historic architectural roots.

General manager Domini Baldasaro says the hotel is now a perfect blend of the old and new, keeping the high ceilings and architectural molds, but giving the rooms themselves an eclectic feel.

“We’ve seen a really major change in terms of colour and tone,” says Baldasaro So one of the biggest changes is that it’s bright and vibrant instead of dark and more traditional. We have a phenomenal new front desk space as well as a really great second floor lobby.”

The lobby includes a grand piano, paintings and wall hangings, a bar and a lounge.

“It’s the Walper like you’ve never seen it before. Jumping right into 2016 with the intention of carrying us forward into the next century.”
