Winter storm warning issued for Waterloo Region and area

We could be in store for one of the biggest snowfalls of the season in Waterloo Region.
A winter storm warning is in effect for our area, as well as Guelph, southern Wellington County and many other neighbouring communities.
Environment Canada has been tracking a Texas low moving north into the Great Lakes region.
While we can expect flurries Tuesday morning, the actual system is not expected to arrive here until mid-afternoon.
It says current projections suggest we could be looking at between 12 and 24 centimetres of snow mixed with ice pellets by the time it moves out of our area early tomorrow morning.

It also warns the snow will be accompanied by strong winds, resulting in blowing snow, drifting and reduced visibility.
Environment Canada Senior Climatologist David Phillips tells 570 News, just because it is now March, doesn’t mean we are out of the woods yet.
He points out, after the first of March, we typically receive 34 centimetres of snow and about 21 per cent of our annual snowfall before winter winds down.
On the bright side, he says their latest weather models suggest, overall, we should be in for a milder than normal spring.
