Waterloo will make great financial strides this weekend thanks to Skate Canada’s Synchronized Skating Championships.
With over 800 participants, hotel rooms and local restaurants will be filled.
“…You know, it really does create a good economic lift for the community that hosts it.” said Skate Canada CEO, Dan Thompson.
He says Waterloo was chosen because Kitchener-Waterloo is such a strong skating market. Kitchener hosted the championships in 2000 and 2002.
The event starts Friday and runs through until Sunday at the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex.
Teams will compete for national titles in the senior, junior, open, intermediate and novice categories.
The top two senior teams will represent Canada at the 2016 ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships.
