A Tale of Two Courtrooms

Two courtrooms. Two very different cases.
The one scene in Hamilton had reporters lined up early Monday morning. A young father, just trying to sell his pick-up, just vanished with two men. Two men are now charged with first-degree murder.
The search for Tim Bosma ended in a ghastly way here in our own backyard. Hard to forget the sound of those helicopters hovering over a North Dumfries farm in the spring of 2013. Our reporters were there.
The death of Bosma and the search for his remains and clues in the case involved well over a hundred officers. Now, we follow the coverage. We watch his widow make her way into the courthouse. It is still so, so sad. No reason for any of it.
The coverage is different, in so many ways, in Toronto this week. The lineups and crowds are there too.
So are many police officers.
It’s the dating history and behaviour of Jian Ghomeshi in the glare.
Court takes a day off today, after a real grilling of the first witness.. and her memories and some emails.

Riveting. A real run of emotions. They start with frustration and end with anger. There is also a feeling of “Why”? Why would someone come forward to be a key player in this circus?
And we don’t even have cameras in the courtroom.
CBC’s once Golden Boy is no more. I think we know that. How do you get that sparkle back? Wonder what this will do to the so-called accusers?
