Americans from Georgia to New Jersey are hunkering down for the weekend, as they wait out a blizzard that could dump 60 centimetres of snow in some areas.
Thousands of accidents and at least nine deaths have already been reported on the region’s roads, and forecasters say the worst is yet to come.
The National Weather Service is predicting “life-threatening” conditions throughout the day due to strong winds and heavy snow.
Baltimore and Washington are expected to see the most snow, with Philadelphia close behind.
