Kitchener’s Ratz-Bechtel closing on Thursday

Kitchener’s Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home is closing for good on New Year’s Eve.
It’s not all bad news, Managing Funeral Director, Carly Lounsbury tells 570 News that they will be merging with the Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre in order to continue to service their clients.
Lounsbury says that a major factor in deciding to relocate is the ongoing LRT construction throughout the downtown core, which runs right in front of the King Street location.
She says that Ratz-Bechtel will no longer be operating as a business on it’s own.
“There will be some kind of honouring of that name within the Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, but Ratz-Bechtel as a business on its own will not be operating any longer.”
Lounsbury says it has been a privilege to look after the families of Kitchener for so many years and she hopes to continue looking after them from Westmount Memorial as well.
