OSSLT results released today, local students on par with provincial average

Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test results were released today and locally, students are on par with the provincial average.
82% of students in Waterloo Region successfully completed the test that took place in March this year.
School Board Officials say they are seeing a high rate of success and improvement in literacy in the region.
“The efforts of our staff in the area of literacy continue to show that our students are making gains in this area” says Angela Mercier, superintendent, student achievement & well-being. “More students are participating in the test, and we
are seeing a high rate of success with 82% of first time eligible students successfully completing the OSSLT.”

Deferral rates for the WRDSB continue to drop, with 3% of students being deferred, compared to the Provincial rate of 5%.
