The Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society has launched a partnership with the YMCA Early Years and the Waterloo Public Library to bring a unique literacy support program to the region.
Tales for Tails offers children an opportunity to practice reading while developing confidence and enhancing their social skills.
Trained volunteers with accredited dogs will be visiting the Early Years Centre at 161 Roger Street in Waterloo to interact with children weekly.
Leaders from these centres find children are more comfortable reading and speaking to animals, who are judgement free and attentive.
The program will run every Thursday from July 9th through August 27th.
