The shrill sound of sirens will pierce the air in Elmira this morning.
Woolwich Township, the Community Awareness and Emergency Response group and the Woolwich Fire Department plan to test the Emergency Alert Sirens and the Community Alert Network (CAN) system.
The township says the siren tests will last around 30 seconds.
As well, residents will receive a phone call with a test message from the CAN network.
Residents who do not get that call are asked to call the township.
Today’s testing takes place at 9:30.
Similar testing will happen tomorrow morning at 9:30am in Breslau and Friday morning at 11 o’clock in St. Jacobs.
