Cambridge man given Australia’s top bravery award

A Cambridge man is being called a hero and now has an award to back that up.

Ryan Smyth pulled a man from a burning car in Melbourne, Australia in 2012.

The Galt native was recognized this week with Australia’s top bravery award.

The Record reports Smyth was one of 26 people officially recognized by their governor general.

He will be back for a visit to Cambridge in a few months.
