Tension continues to run high today – after a protest in solidarity yesterday at Wilfrid Laurier University. Students and faculty joined together to demonstrate how unhappy they are with 22 recent staff cuts, many saying they couldn’t believe the cuts were announced on such short notice – leaving staff only 24 hours to remove their belongings. Students had a chance to meet with Student Union representatives in a discussion that was very heated at times. Another meeting has been arranged for next week.
10:30 – Tickets for cyclists?

Ottawa Police say cyclists who are texting while pedalling, should be given the same treatment as drivers who text behind the wheel. Ottawa Police Sgt. Mark Gatien made a written submission to Queen’s Park on Monday to amend Bill 31. He wants to change the term ‘motor vehicle’ to ‘vehicle’ so that cyclists and people operating road building machines can be charged under the legislation. Gatien says there are more distracted drivers than distracted cyclists, but says he’s received countless complaints about this issue on social media.
