New Measles case confirmed in York Region

The measles virus is currently causing infections in several parts of Canada.
In Ontario, seven cases have been reported in the Toronto area and one in the Niagara region in southwestern Ontario.
None of the people had recently travelled outside the country.
The latest Toronto-area case is in York Region, where health officials say the patient is a vaccinated adult, under the age of 30.
Ten individuals in Quebec are confirmed to have been infected with measles in an event health officials are linking to a large outbreak in California.
All the cases in Quebec are clustered in the Lanaudiere region, where the health authority says the first person contracted the virus during a visit to a California park that’s been the source of other recent infections.
The park is not named but it appears it is Disneyland, which the U-S Centers for Disease Control says is so far linked to 114 cases of measles in seven states.
The health authority says none of the 10 Quebecers was vaccinated.
Officials in Manitoba have also reported finding a case in a child who had recently returned from India.
Ontario Health Minister Eric Hoskins is urging people to check their own and their children’s vaccination records to make sure they’re up to date.
He says being fully immunized is the best way to prevent measles and its spread.
