Environment Canada predicts possible freezing rain Saturday

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Waterloo Region warning of possible freezing rain tomorrow.
The good news though, temperatures will gradually increase this weekend.
Meteorologist Peter Kimbell says a major storm is not likely but it may be a good idea to salt your driveway and sidewalk.
“The ground is pretty cold, even if the rain falls at plus 2 tomorrow it may very well freeze from contact with the ground because it takes so long for the ground to warm up.”
Temperatures are expected to rise to a high of plus five tomorrow and a high of eight on Sunday.
As we saw in last year’s storm, freezing rain can do significant damage, but Kimbell says they aren’t anticipating the same storm.
“Last year we got significant amounts of freezing rain in late December, we are looking for maybe two or three or at the most four or five millimeters.”
