Fire officials say it’s also a good opportunity to change the batteries in your smoke detector and carbon monoxide detectors.
Public Education officer with Waterloo Fire Rescue, John Percy spoke with 570 news.
“This is a perfect time to do it. We have to remind people that when they change the batteries its really important that they test their smoke and carbon monoxide alarms to ensure the new batteries are good and its going to operate if there ever is a true emergency.”
Percy adds that as of October 15th it is mandatory to have a working carbon monoxide detector in your home.
