Kitchener’s inside workers facing possible strike

The City of Kitchener’s inside workers could be walking the picket line as early as Thursday.
The union representing the workers, CUPE local 791, has set a strike deadline of 12:01 a.m. September 11th.
It says discussions are at a standstill after the city refused to budge on several key issues.
The union represents 315 full-time workers including clerical and technical staff.
That includes bylaw enforcement, planners, engineers and administrative assistants.
CUPE National Representative Dayn Gray says, “The City’s inside workers, who are mostly women, deserve to be treated with the same respect as the outside workers who managed to reach a fair deal with this employer just last year.”
Contract talks are scheduled to resume today.
