BlackBerry finished with job cuts

Some reassuring news for local BlackBerry workers: a memo out to employees says the Waterloo tech company has concluded its restructuring process.
Reuters says the internal memo went out to all BlackBerry employees. In the memo, CEO John Chen says, “we have completed the restructuring notification process, and the workforce reduction that began three years ago is now behind us.”
Chen also says, “barring any unexpected downturns in the market, we will be adding head count in certain areas such as product development, sales, and customer service.”
BlackBerry slashed its work force by almost 60 per cent over the last three years, including cutting over 1,000 local jobs.
Chen took the reins at BlackBerry roughly eight months ago.
