Thalmic Labs in Kitchener has come up with a convenient way to interact with your home and work technology. It’s called the Myo Arm Band and it allows you to use your arms to interact with the things around you.
It’s the first device of its kind on the market, which uses the electrical activity in your arm to take control.
Sameera Banduk, Marketing Director at Thalmic Labs explains it controls everything from gaming, listening to music, or navigating your way through a power point presentation.
Banduk, says the Myo is used with bluetooth to control your technology, and that you can use different third party applications in conjunction with it. She says the gestures are natural and easy to do.
“One example of it is in your house, while cooking, and your hands are occupied but you want to control the music. Well, now you have something on your arm and you can just change the song while you’re cooking.”
The Myo is not yet sold in stores, but can be pre-ordered online at ww.thalmic.com.
