Holistic Service Spas in Guelph are facing a slew of charges after an investigation by Guelph Police.
The Guelph Police High Enforcement Action Team conducted the investigation between June 24th and July 5th of this year.
A total of 34 charges were laid under the city’s by-law, totalling $15,850 in fines.
“Charges have been laid before” says Guelph Police Constable, Mike Gatto. “That’s a lot of charges to be laid, I would say. I don’t know if it’s something that’s going to continue, but we’re certainly going to make sure that if it does continue in our city, that they’re going to adhere to the conditions that they’re bound by.”
The various violations included fees not listed, services not listed and nudity. Gatto adds that there are five spas in the city currently, but at one point there was as many as 13 establishments.
Guelph Police say they’re active in monitoring and enforcing by-law compliance within holistic services establishments that are licensed by the city of Guelph.
