The Region of Waterloo plans to spend over $70 million on a new garage for Grand River Transit.
The Record reports regional council recently voted to spend $7.4 million on 17 acres of land on Northfield Drive East in Waterloo.
The GRT’s current five facilities accommodate more than 240 buses, that number is expected to jump to 430 by
2031.
Officials with the region tell the paper having a site in Waterloo will make it easy to get buses started on routes there as opposed to bringing them in from facilities in Kitchener and Cambridge.
