It’s happening everywhere and it’s extremely dangerous. Walking and texting (wexting) is on its way to becoming a major risk to pedestrian safety. The word wexting hasn’t even been officially recognized as a word by any major dictionary. However, according to a few US states that track wexting related accidents, wexters are more likely to be involved in an accident than a texting motorist. It’s unlikely that wexting will ever become a ticket-able offence in Ontario in the same way that jay walking can get you a fine. However the injuries associated with wexting are mounting and many of these include serious skull and facial injuries. Cameron contends that it is only a matter of time before a wexting personal injury lawsuit makes its way into the courts and serious damages are sought.

Holding a Men’s Rights concert in Toronto the week after Elliot Rodger’s misogynistic massacre in California seemed a bit much, even for the controversial men’s rights movement. And yet this week, there were the posters advertising an “E-Day” concert organized by Men’s Rights group, The Canadian Association for Equality. According to the concert’s media release, E-Day, which stands for Equality Day, was apparently intended to “celebrate equal parenting” and “celebrate the gains made in advancing social equality.” CAFE’s website says its aims are “achieving equality for all men, women, girls and boys” and that “we do not consider ourselves a Men’s Rights Group.”
