Everywhere you look these days, America is in a rush to embrace the stupid. Eschewing common sense solutions to its pressing problems in favour of bumper-sticker simplicities, and sinking ever deeper into the “culture wars.” Ignorance is spreading like a plague, almost half the adult population doesn’t believe evolution, and a quarter didn’t read a single book last year. Gatehouse reports on Americans’ lack of concern with intellect, and considers whether their country might need to be quarantined-for the good of us all.

Heather Bays, a Toronto mother says her Instagram account was deactivated on Saturday evening, after someone made negative comments about photographs she posted of herself breastfeeding her 20-month-old daughter. Bays works as a maternity photographer and has almost 2,000 pictures on the popular photo-sharing service.
