Spring snowstorm bears down on Atlantic Canada

HALIFAX – A powerful storm is expected to dump heavy snow across Atlantic Canada on Wednesday.
Environment Canada says as an intense low pressure system tracks near Nova Scotia, very strong winds are forecast to develop ahead of the system on Wednesday morning.
Forecasters say gusts will cause reduced visibility in blowing snow.
Some private forecasters are calling for gusts in excess of 110 kilometres per hour across the Confederation Bridge.
Environment Canada says the amount of snow in some areas could exceed 25 centimetres, though the private forecasts are calling for higher amounts along the coast.
As well, Environment Canada is warning that higher-than-normal water levels combined with rapidly rising wave activity may produce local flooding along much of the Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia and the Northumberland Strait.
