10:30am- Ken Seiling, Chair of the Region of Waterloo, Re: The Region of Waterloo has received a notice of application for judicial review seeking an injunction to stop ION Stage 1 Light Rail Transit (LRT). This notice claims that the Region’s ION LRT Project does not conform to the Region Official Policies Plan (ROPP) and is contrary to Section 24 of the Ontario Planning Act. This Act prohibits the undertaking of a public work that does not conform to an official plan in effect in a municipality. The notice also claims that the Region has not followed the necessary Environmental Assessment processes. Seiling says they “feel strongly that this claim is unfounded and without substance”
