February was our coldest one since 1979

Relief is in the sight to the bitterly cold weather we’ve been experiencing, but it won’t come today.

Environment Canada saying wind chills today will dip into the minus 30’s.
We are only expecting a high today of minus 13. A wind chill warning for our area has since been dropped.

570’s Weather Specialist John Wilson says temperatures will remain below normal until Friday when we are expecting a high of zero.

Last month goes down in the books as the coldest February since 1979.

The University of Waterloo Weather Station reports temperatures were 5 degrees below average last month.

As for precipitation, it was slightly below average although we did receive a bit more snow than during a typical February.
