The chair of the Region of Waterloo is back on the tracks when it comes to the LRT.
Ken Seiling says he’ll no longer declare a conflict of interest.
“…Now as the final touches are being put on it, it’s nice to be
back in the discussion again.” Seiling told 570 News.
He was among several regional and city politicians who declared conflicts because family members or employers that own property along the planned rapid transit corridor. He was concerned because two of his children own property along the corridor.
Seiling says a number of recent judicial cases have served to clarify municipal conflict of interest legislation and how courts view the matter.
He also sought legal advice and is confident he can participate in LRT talk again.
The awarding of the main LRT contract could come as early as next month.
